Rep. Barrow diagnosed with prostate cancer

Rep. John Barrow (D-Ga.) announced Tuesday that he will undergo treatment for prostate cancer.

A routine physical exam uncovered the condition, which is in an early stage, according to his office.

Barrow plans to undergo radiation therapy in Maryland beginning in late July until sometime during late August, when Congress is in recess, to avoid missing any votes.

"The good news is that the doctors expect a full recovery, and the therapy will not affect my ability to work," Barrow said in a statement.
