Report: Husband claims D.C. reality star wife may be abduction victim

altFile this one in the “huh?” category.

TMZ reports that Tareq Salahi claims his wife, “Real Housewives of D.C.” star Michaele Salahi, may have been the victim of an abduction.

Salahi says Michaele disappeared after saying she was going to her hair done, according to the website. Tareq claims he then received a suspicious call from his wife from an Oregon phone number. Michaele told him that she was going to visit her mother. After Michaele’s mother told Tareq she hadn’t spoken to her daughter, Tareq called Virginia authorities out of fear for his wife’s safety.

Tareq Salahi says he was told by the sheriff’s office in Warren County, Va., that Michaele had called them to let them know she was alright and was dealing with “family issues.”

Tareq tells the entertainment site that he believes his wife is being held against her will and may be forced to be making phone calls to the police and her family.

The publicity-loving couple became known as the “White House crashers” after Bravo T.V. cameras captured them attending a White House party, apparently without an invitation, in 2009.

UPDATE (6:30 p.m.): Michaele Salahi is reportedly safe and sound - and hanging out with the band Journey. The former Bravo show star is dating the group's guitarist, Neal Schon, according to TMZ.

The news doesn't come as a complete surprise to your ITK columnist, who covered the Salahis' first major public event, the America's Cup of Polo, back in 2007. The classic rock band performed at the match in Leesburg, Va. When this reporter inquired with Tareq Salahi how the couple was able to secure such a well known musical act, Salahi described the band members as longtime friends of his wife.
