Rapper Common makes stop in Washington

altSPOTTED: Grammy Award-winning rapper and actor, Common, stopping by the performance rights non-profit group, SoundExchange, in downtown D.C. on Friday.

A previous visit to Washington by the entertainer created quite a stir back in May. Critics, including former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, took issue with some of Common’s lyrics and assailed the White House for asking him to perform at a poetry event there.

Despite the controversy, a source says that Common, who supported Barack Obama in 2008, told the folks at SoundExchange that come 2012, Obama is “his candidate.”
