altIt’s not every day that visitors to the District can catch George Washington running alongside someone dressed in only their skivvies.

But the first president and some of his other founding father friends (or at least the giant foam versions who appear at Washington Nationals games) are doing just that as they participate in a charity race called Cupid’s Undie Run.

While it’s unclear if the former commander-in-chiefs will be making the 1.1 mile trek in their knickers, about 3,000 scantily-clad racers are expected to participate in the run down Pennsylvania Ave. on Saturday. The third annual risqué race, which is sold out, raises awareness and money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

Bobby Gill, one of the co-founders of the underwear fundraiser says, “Getting caught with your pants down is usually a problem for those on Capitol Hill, but not when it’s for charity!”

When asked what type of undergarments are most appropriate for running outside the Capitol, Gill replied, “Undies of all types are encouraged, we just prefer not to see your dirty laundry.”
