President Jon Stewart? Sen. Bill O'Reilly? Probably not gonna happen

By Judy Kurtz - 10/10/12 11:04 AM ET

Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly don't see eye to eye on much, but both say they have no interest in running for political office.

The host of Comedy Central’s “Daily Show” and the Fox News Channel personality faced off in a sold-out debate at George Washington University dubbed “The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium.” Half of the proceeds from ticket, webcast and download sales from the showdown go to a number of charities chosen by O’Reilly and Stewart.

At a press conference following the match-up, ITK asked whether either TV host would consider duking it out in a political race.

“Listen, I have pictures from my youth that I keep in a shoebox that would preclude me from working at the post office,” cracked Stewart. “Apparently they do background checks, so I think I’m probably out.”

When ITK pointed out that several online petitions are calling on him to make a run for the White House, Stewart said to chuckles from the throng of reporters, “There are petitions for a good many things in this country. Doesn’t mean they are all good ideas.”

The “O’Reilly Factor” host said simply, “Not me. Nope. No interest in it.”
