Obama praise elicits boos from audience at Madonna concert
Madonna espousing her political views during a New Orleans, La., concert didn’t sit well with some fans. Despite the show being a hot ticket, some concertgoers started walking out of the stop on the hit maker’s “MDNA” tour.
At Saturday’s show, the “Like a Virgin” singer asked the crowd, “Who’s registered to vote?” The entertainer, 54, added, I don’t care who you vote for as long as you vote for [President] Obama.”
Several audience members booed and walked out following the remarks, according to the Associated Press.
The musician also said, “Seriously, I don’t care who you vote for … Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote.”
It’s not the first time the pop music queen has supported Obama while putting on a concert.
Between sets during her Washington concert last month, the entertainer stripped down to her underwear onstage and revealed the president’s name written across her lower back. “You all better vote for f—ing Obama, OK,” she said at the time.
