Trump, Eastwood endorse Romney but drive support for Obama
Despite Clint Eastwood’s famous speech at the Republican National Convention and Donald Trump’s unwavering support for Mitt Romney, both celebrities push voters to support Barack Obama, according to a new poll from The Hollywood Reporter.
The poll looks at which celebrities make voters more likely to support Democrats, as well as who the most and least credible stars are.
Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres came in tied at the top of the pack for getting people to vote for Obama, with 12 percent each. Oprah and Ellen also made the top five list of credible celebs with both sides of the aisle.
Trump and Eastwood were some of the least credible figures according to Democrats, but trusted by Republicans.
“Donald Trump is in a league of his own when it comes to rallying the other side,” said Penn Schoen Berland pollster Jon J. Penn. “He actually makes Democrats more likely to support Democrats. And Republicans think he hurts their cause.”
Other celebrities the poll says help drive support for Obama in likely voters include George Clooney, Tina Fey, Eva Longoria and Bruce Springsteen.
