While he’s regularly been seen chowing down on hamburgers and pizza at stops along the campaign trail, President Obama’s favorite healthy snack packs a bit more nutritional punch than anything a greasy spoon’s serving up.
The commander in chief reveals in the Nov. 12 issue of Us Weekly magazine that he always keeps his good-for-you grub by his side at the White House, saying, “Apples are my favorite healthy snack. I always have a bowl of them in the Oval Office.”
The tidbit is one of several tame revelations in the glossy mag’s regular “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me” feature with the president.
Another admission from the president? Daughters Sasha and Malia give him a hard time about his smartphone style. “My girls tease my about wearing my BlackBerry in a holster connected to my belt,” says Obama.
The president also discloses to the magazine one of the most common questions he gets while on the road: “One of the things people ask me about the most when I’m on the campaign trail is the White House Honey Ale beer recipe.”
