Obama wins presidential cheese race
Not only did he win the presidential election, it turns turns out that when it comes to dairy product preferences in Washington, President Obama remains the big cheese.
On Wednesday, the day after the election, the Park Hyatt in Georgetown released the ooey gooey results of its presidential cheese-off between Obama and GOP candidate Mitt Romney.
Lisa Hviding, Park Hyatt Washington’s cheese specialist (the greatest job title ever) selected two blue cheeses for Obama: the “Ewe’s Blue” sheep’s milk cheese from New York and Vermont’s “Barick Obama” pasteurized cow’s milk cheese. The red cheesy picks for Romney included “Red Hawk,” a cow’s milk cheese from California, and “Lincoln Log,” a pasteurized goat’s milk cheese made in Michigan.
Although at times the cheese showdown seemed as close as the presidential race, cheese lovers ended up melting for the Obama pairings. The president edged (or is that “wedged?”) out Romney with a vote of 465 to 432.
