Report: Obamas invite boy band One Direction to White House
Now that that they’ve won another four years at the White House, a U.K. tabloid newspaper claims President Obama and the first lady have their sights set on a new goal: trying to bring a group of tween sensations to Washington.
The Obamas have asked the boy band One Direction to come play a special gig at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., according to the Daily Star.
The paper says that the trip to D.C. would be meant as a thank-you gift to daughters Sasha, 11, and Malia, 14, for their help during the presidential campaign.
“A source close to One Direction revealed that Michelle Obama, 48, had been in touch personally to ask them to appear at the White House,” the paper reports.
It wouldn’t be the first time the English and Irish pop stars have snagged an invite to the commander in chief’s abode. The “Live While We’re Young” singers were asked to appear at the White House Easter Egg Roll earlier this year, but couldn’t make it because of their hectic schedule.
A spokesman from the first lady’s office didn’t respond to ITK’s request for comment.
