Honda staffer runs first marathon
It was a race to the finish line — and to Helen Chung’s credit, she made it to the end.
The Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.) staffer just completed her first 26.2-miler, running over the weekend in the Philadelphia Marathon.
Although Chung wasn’t among them, outrageously dressed participants usually frequent the race — one such runner once told the Philadelphia Inquirer, "You have not run a marathon until you run in costume.”
While Chung, an Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies fellow, says she isn’t sure exactly how long the marathon took her, she certainly wasn’t clowning around. “I don’t know what my time was, but I am just glad I beat the Juggler and Ghostbusters,” she tells ITK.
