Congressman becomes grandfather to second set of twins

By Judy Kurtz - 11/21/12 02:38 PM ET

Oh, baby! Rep. Phil Gingrey is now a grandfather to his second set of twin granddaughters.

The Georgia Republican’s daughter gave birth to the two youngest Gingrey family members on Friday. Gingrey, 70, told The Hill ahead of the double-dose debut, “What I was thinking about most of the day — tomorrow is the delivery of my 12th and 13th grandchildren… that’s been kind of on my mind.”

We hear the newborns were named after their two grandmothers, Lynn Mercer and Billie Ayers, and will be called “Mercer” and “Ayers.”

Gingrey, an OB-GYN who has delivered more than 5,200 throughout his career, tells ITK in an email that he and his wife, also named Billie, “Are at Lucky No. 13 in number of grandchildren. All is well.”
