Christmas tree arrives at Capitol

By Judy Kurtz - 11/26/12 02:51 PM ET

A Christmas tree is in the House — or, at least, kind of close to the House.

The Capitol Christmas tree made its slow trek into Washington on Monday.

The 65-foot Engelmann spruce traveled 5,000 miles from its home in Colorado to get to the nation’s capital. It will soon be decked out with about 5,000 ornaments.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will light the 74-year-old Christmas tree in a ceremony next Tuesday.
