Obama balks at hoops challenge from RG3

By Judy Kurtz - 11/28/12 11:34 AM ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, or RG3, says he challenged President Obama to a one-on-one match — not on the football field, but on the basketball court.

The famed National Football League pro revealed to Chris Moody of Yahoo News his chat with the commander in chief at the National Prayer Breakfast, saying, “He just talked about how good of a player I was, and I challenged him to a game of basketball.”

But knowing Griffin’s athletic ability, Obama was smarter than to accept his invite.

“He said he wouldn't play me but I could play on his team,” explains Griffin.

And the gridiron star says he doesn’t think Obama will change his mind about a hoops showdown.

“I don't think he'll ever play against me. We'll have it me and him versus [former All-American Baylor women's basketball star] Brittney Griner and Mrs. Obama.”
