Joy, gingerbread and Bo dominate White House holiday decorations
The White House’s holiday decorations this year are all about joy, gingerbread and Bo.
The administration announced Wednesday that the 2012 theme at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. this year is “Joy to All,” which it says is “celebrating the many joys of the holiday season.” Talk about non-controversial.
The East Garden Room will be adorned with wreaths made of gingerbread and a life-sized replica of the first family’s dog, Bo. That’s not the only ode to the Portuguese Water Dog — more than 40 handmade “Boflakes” will hang from the trees.
The traditional White House gingerbread house weighs about 300 pounds. More than 175 of gingerbread and 50-plus pounds of chocolate were used to create the edible replica.
