David Axelrod's mustache may soon be a goner after charity wager
WE HEAR: David Axelrod better get his razor ready, because it sounds like he’s about to say so long to his ‘stache.
The senior campaign strategist to President Obama made a wager earlier this month on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he would shave his mustache of 40 years if Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE) reached its $1 million fundraising goal. Axelrod’s daughter is epileptic and his wife, Susan, is CURE’s chairwoman.
Word is that the million-dollar benchmark was reached at a VIP-studded CURE gala Wednesday at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox.
Among the supporters who may have gotten one of the last looks at Axelrod’s facial hair: Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, filmmaker Ken Burns, Boston Red Sox owner John Henry, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D), and “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
