WE HEAR: Former Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.) got a big laugh when he made a surprise appearance last week at a soiree honoring Rep. Spencer Bachus.
The Alabama Republican was honored at a reception sponsored by the Women in Housing and Finance Foundation for his work as chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services. Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) will take over the gavel on the committee next month, when Bachus reaches his six-year term limit as a committee chairman or ranking member.
Kanjorski unexpectedly dropped in on the Wednesday festivities. An ITK tipster tells us while Bachus’s colleagues gave him accolades, Kanjorski joked that his attendance was proof a Democrat will do anything for a drink — even say nice things about a Republican.
