With coal in hand, Santa makes return visit to Capitol Hill
Santa Claus’s visit came just a wee bit early for some House members on Friday. But rather than presents in hand, this bearded D.C. visitor ditched his sleigh in favor of filling up a wheelbarrow full of coal.
Catholics United, which dubs itself as a non-partisan, nonprofit organization, said in a press release, “With a large ‘naughty’ list, Santa will be passing out hundreds of pounds of coal to the members who have refused to allow a vote to come to the House floor on middle-class tax cuts.”
Although it was his first trip to Capitol Hill with coal in hand, Old St. Nick paid lawmakers a visit just last week, when he entered the office of Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). He told Boehner staffers at the time, “Now, I know he doesn’t want me to come back in two weeks with a bag of coal … Merry Christmas.”
No word on where Santa’s reindeer and elves were, and why he had to lug his deliveries around town himself.
