Kal Penn: Rep.-elect Tulsi Gabbard is my 'homie'
Rep.-elect Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) is already getting some celebrity support from her Hollywood “homie” in her bid for the seat of the late Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii).
On Tuesday, “Harold and Kumar” actor and former associate director for the White House Office of Public Engagement Kal Penn wrote on Twitter, “Imagine having a young Senator who gets it? My homie @TulsiGabbard, combat vet, 32, could be nominated!”
The 35-year-old entertainer also included a link to a Change.org petition urging Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie (D) to appoint the soon-to-be congresswoman to Inouye’s Senate seat.
When a Twitter user responded to Penn’s message about Gabbard, writing, “great more war hawks,” Penn replied, “aww booo so cynical & negative. Be part of the solution. #AllLove #HugItOut.”
Penn has played the free-spirited and funny-smelling-cigarette-loving character Kumar Patel in a number of “Harold and Kumar” movies. He has also had recurring roles on the TV series “House” and “How I Met Your Mother.”
