Congressman really digs his college sports team
Let’s hope future chairmen and chairwomen of the House Appropriations Committee dig the University of California Los Angeles’s sports teams as much as Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) does.
The retiring 78-year-old Lewis, a huge UCLA Bruins fan, has a Bichon-poo named Bruin. And as former chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Lewis even did a little remodeling of his old office with his alma mater's school colors, replacing the carpet with blue and gold tiles.
The 17-term lawmaker tells Southern California Public Radio station 89.3 KPCC that the chairman’s office — which is located directly off the House floor — is his favorite spot on Capitol Hill, “To say the least, it’s nicely situated for the chairman.”
