Canadians hosting celebration for Klobuchar

By Judy Kurtz - 01/02/13 02:41 PM ET

Sen. Amy Klobuchar is celebrating her upcoming swearing-in to the 113th Congress with some pals from America’s neighbor to the north.

The Minnesota Democrat is being feted Wednesday night by the Canadian Embassy, at a reception at its Washington digs.

While her home state is pretty darn close geographically to the hockey-loving country, a celebration of a U.S. senator’s reelection at the Canadian Embassy might be a first.

Don’t be surprised if a few guests are seen sporting moose antlers, maple leaves, and other Canada-inspired accessories at the shindig. An invite obtained by ITK says, “Special consideration given to guests willing to spice up their attire with a dash of Minnesota or its friendly neighbor to the north.”

Klobuchar’s office didn’t return ITK’s call for comment on the festivities.
