Free cupcakes for TV show’s ‘inauguration’
Sprinkles, a bakery with outlets across the country, is getting in on the inaugural action — offering free cupcakes to all customers on Jan. 10.
But the complimentary baked goods from Sprinkles aren’t to mark the 57th inauguration of President Obama — they’re to celebrate “inauguration day” for President Gilchrist, a character played by Bill Pullman in the new NBC series “1600 Penn.”
The comedy series, about a dysfunctional family living in the White House, premieres Thursday night.
We hear Sprinkles is giving away “1600 Penn” branded cupcakes in all 11 bakeries around the U.S., including its Washington location in Georgetown. But don’t get greedy with your sweet tooth — the promotion is limited to one free cupcake per person.
While the real-life, healthy lifestyle-pushing first lady might not approve of it, Sprinkles is also holding a frosting-coated, POTUS-themed online contest. Those who post a picture of their “1600 Penn” cupcake with the hashtag #1600Cupcakes on Twitter or Instagram will be entered to win a year’s supply of Sprinkles cupcakes.
