Rep. Blackburn challenges Obama to skeet shooting showdown
Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) is challenging President Obama to a skeet shooting showdown.
The Tennessee Republican voiced skepticism about the commander in chief’s recent claim that he regularly goes skeet shooting at Camp David.
While speaking to Erin Burnett on CNN’s “Out Front” on Monday, Blackburn asked, “If he is a skeet shooter, why have we not heard of this? Why have we not seen photos? Why has he not referenced it at any point in time as we have had this gun debate that is ongoing?”
Blackburn then dared Obama to a test of his skeet shooting skills: “I think he should invite me to Camp David, and I’ll go skeet shooting with him.”
The congresswoman’s office didn’t return ITK’s request for additional comment about her suggestion for a skeet shooting match.
When asked during a wide-ranging interview with The New Republic if he’s ever fired a gun, Obama replied, “Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time.”
Obama added while his school-age daughters don’t participate, he often invites guests, saying, “I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake.”
