Rep. Crowley: ‘Stephen Colbert can be my back-up singer anytime’

Rep. Joseph Crowley has found a new duet partner in Stephen Colbert. 

The New York Democrat performed a rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner with the comedian and surprise guest at the House Democratic retreat in Virginia on Friday.

Crowley tells Politicker.com, “All I can say is Stephen Colbert can be my back-up singer anytime.”

While the duet between the new vice chairman of the House Democratic Caucus and the “Colbert Report” funnyman was off-limits to reporters, a person in the room told The Hill the duo performed most of the anthem in “dramatic harmony.”
