

First lady to welcome youngest Oscar nominee at White House
Quvenzhané Wallis, the nine-year-old breakout star of “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and the youngest entertainer to ever receive a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress, is heading to the White House.
The young actress will take part in an interactive workshop about the movie hosted by Michelle Obama, the first lady’s office announced Monday.Middle and high school students from the Washington area and New Orleans will discuss the drama — in which Wallis plays an abandoned girl, “Hushpuppy,” living on the Louisiana bayou —with cast and crew members from the film at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. on Wednesday.
