Conan O'Brien to host White House press dinner for second time

By Judy Kurtz - 02/20/13 10:18 AM ET

Conan O’Brien will hold court as emcee of the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner.

WHCA President and Fox News Channel senior White House correspondent Ed Henry announced the group’s pick of the funnyman in a Wednesday morning message on Twitter, writing, “Thrilled to reveal [Conan O’Brien] has agreed to headline White House Correspondents Association’s scholarship dinner April 27 @TeamCoco.” Henry confirmed the news in an email to The Hill.

It’s not the TBS late-night host’s first time hosting the celeb-filled dinner (also affectionately referred to as “nerd prom), which is traditionally attended by the president. O’Brien also headlined the swank Washington soiree in 1995.

Money raised from the annual affair funds more than $100,000 in scholarships. This year’s dinner will be held on April 27.
