Ann Romney turned down 'Dancing with the Stars'

By Elise Viebeck - 03/03/13 10:35 AM ET

The wife of former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney was invited to join the hit ABC TV series "Dancing with the Stars" but declined, she confirmed Sunday.

Mitt and Ann Romney gave an extensive interview to Fox News Sunday in which they discussed the disappointment of losing in November and how their family has moved on since.

Ann Romney said she considered joining "Dancing," a competition series in which celebrities are paired with professional dancers to perform every week.

"I did consider it," she told Fox. "I love the show … I would have loved to have done it, and I am turning 64, and I started thinking about it. I'm not really as flexible as I should be."

She said she was confident in her decision after hearing that Olympic figure skater Dorothy Hamill would join the show.

"I thought — oh my gosh, am I glad I didn't do that!" Ann Romney said. "I wouldn't want to compete against Dorothy!"
