Franken offers brunch date with Conan in fundraising pitch
Sen. Al Franken is offering a brunch date with Conan O’Brien at the late-night host’s Los Angeles, Calif., abode as part of a fundraising pitch for his reelection campaign.
“Imagine how much fun it would be to hang out at Conan’s house,” the former “Saturday Night Live” funnyman wrote in a Friday email from Al Franken for Senate 2014. “Imagine how jealous your ex-boyfriend/ex girlfriend/boss/parents/neighbors/cousins will be.”
He then adds, “Imagine how ridiculous your friends will look when they compete to be your plus-one.”
Supporters who contribute any amount to Franken’s campaign will be entered to win the April 7 brunch with the comedic duo.
In a postscript message, Franken writes, “Yes, this is really happening. Yes, you could win. Yes, this is awesome.”
O’Brien was a writer for “SNL” before landing his late-night talk show gig.
The flame-haired comedian is proving a popular choice among the D.C. crowd this year — he’s also been tapped to headline the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on April 27 in Washington.
