Michelle Obama surprises military families with cookies

By Emily Goodin - 03/20/13 03:59 PM ET

While the children appeared happy to see Obama — some gave her handmade Easter cards — they were very excited to the see the Portuguese water dog. Several petted him with some crawling under the tables to play with the first dog.

The first lady — wearing a chartreuse cardigan and top, a pink and black patterned skirt, a black belt, pink ballet flats and pearls — spent about 30 minutes visiting with the families, who were making Easter-related cards and crafts.

It was Obama's second trip to Fisher House around the Easter holiday.

In addition to the Bo-shaped cookies, she brought tickets to the April 1 Easter Egg Roll.

"We've got athletes who come, we've got Easter bunnies, and characters, and face painting, and bands playing, and lots of running right on the South Lawn," she told the kids. "So the Monday after Easter, you guys are invited to my house to hang out, okay?"

After Fisher House, Obama stopped to see patients at Walter Reed.
