Daytime TV, not politics, on tap at The Capital Grille
WE HEAR: It wasn’t your typical D.C. power lunch last week — rather than talking about sequestration, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), or President Obama, a Smithsonian bigwig and an executive from the Daytime Emmy Awards were throwing names such as Susan Lucci, Barney the dinosaur and Alex Trebek around.
We hear the pair, at The Capital Grille, had been chatting about an alliance between the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the National Museum of American History to bring a new major entertainment exhibit that includes a focus on daytime TV.
Word is a May donation ceremony at the museum could bring plenty of soap opera stars and daytime television regulars to the nation’s capital.
