Arden says of Huffman, who has played before with The Grateful Dead, “He’s not a professional musician, but he can hold his own.”

Huffman isn’t the only Washington insider playing a few notes in public this week. Former Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-Wis.) is picking up his harmonica to duet with folk singer Peter Yarrow, of Peter, Paul and Mary fame.

While serving in Congress, Obey formed and played harmonica for a bluegrass group called The Capitol Offenses.

The Thursday music fest in the Badger State with the “Puff, the Magic Dragon” singer will raise money to build a David R. Obey Civic Resource Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin.
