The “Elevation” singer’s praise didn’t end there.

The activist, whose organization describes its mission as a group "committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable diseases," added of the nomination, “Mike is fully behind the critical role of trade in combating extreme poverty, and very involved in President Obama's global development agenda. We're excited about working with him on trade-related policies of benefit to both the US and countries in Africa, such as the extension of the Africa Growth and Opportunities Act.”

If he is confirmed, Froman would replace acting U.S. Trade Representative Demetrios Marantis, who assumed the post after former Trade Representative Ron Kirk stepped down earlier this year.
