The House member, who opposes additional gun control measures, says the letters he receives from constituents are anti-gun-control by a 10-to-1 ratio.

Daines, 50, also made a pit stop at gun store while at home, wearing an employee vest to work behind the sporting goods counter.

But Lockman contends her boss has no plans to ditch his Cannon House Office Building digs for a more permanent position behind the cashier counter, saying, “He is very happy and humbled to be serving the people of Montana.”

As far as Daines’s new nickname, Lockman says only time will tell whether it will catch on in Washington. But in the meantime, she says, the congressman’s office “all had a good laugh about it.”
