Word is Roe’s staffers sometimes get in on the musical action with their boss. Communications director Tiffany McGuffee tells us that Roe’s legislative aide, Alex Large, who’s in a group called The Second String Band, will often bust out some songs with the congressman.

Although Roe told students he enjoys picking up the guitar when no one’s there, McGuffee has managed to hear a few licks. “He plays in his office often,” she said in an email, “just about every day between meetings, hearings and votes.”

But don’t expect to hear any Metallica or Black Sabbath singles emanating from Roe’s office — his musical tastes include bluegrass and Southern gospel.

And McGuffee’s personal fave ditty that the lawmaker plays (and sings!)? The hymn “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”
