Sinise, who also heads up his eponymous foundation to support vets and their families, is more interested in talking about his charity efforts than politics while in the nation’s capital.
The entertainer reportedly founded a networking group in 2004 for right-leaning Hollywood executives and actors called “Friends of Abe.” When asked by ITK whether Friends of Abe is still active and gathers for meetings, Sinise replies, “Friends of who?”
When pressed, he replies with a slight laugh, “I don’t know, they might be.” He adds, “It’s a group of friends who get together for lunch. That’s about what it is.”
The 58-year-old, who donated last year to GOP candidate Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, might not have time for any lunches this week though, as he gets ready for a packed schedule to support his various veterans’ efforts. He’ll be performing Sunday with his Lt. Dan Band at a Memorial Day weekend concert on the west lawn of the Capitol.
He says of America’s servicemen and women, “It really is the best military the world has ever seen.”
