The wax museum revealed its take on the 45th president during an unveiling on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
The waxy version of Trump is seen sporting a blue suit, red tie and American flag lapel pin, with his hands clutching the top of his pants.
Trump joins the line-up at the museum's President's Gallery, which serves as home to wax figures of all the past commanders in chief.
Trump is the first U.S. president who has already had a wax figure at Tussauds, said Therese Alvich, general manager of Tussauds Washington.
“He had a figure that we did back in 1997,” Alvich said. “He’s gotten older … so our artist took that information from 1997 and updated it and took some recent photos to use as reference.”
She said Trump’s hair and skin tone were unique challenges and there was “diligent work to get the hair exactly right," without turning the wax figure into a caricature.
“The challenge is keeping his hair right,” Alvich said. “We want to get his hair exactly right. We want him looking the way he’s supposed to look and that’s how it is with all our figures.”
She added that although Trump is a controversial figure, she expects most visitors will be respectful and enjoy taking pictures with the figure.
There are no current plans for making a wax figure of the next first lady, Melania Trump, but Alvich said that could change.
“That depends on the public because that’s something we let the public decide," Alvich said.
"If the public says ‘we want to see Melania’ then that’s absolutely something we would do.”
