Social media users poke fun at #boycottHawaii over travel ban ruling

A federal judge in Hawaii placed a nationwide block on President Trump’s revised travel ban order, and some supporters of the order and the president are saying they've decided to boycott the state.

U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson, an Obama appointee, issued a ruling Wednesday blocking the revised order, delivering a major blow to the president's policy just hours before it was set to go into effect.

The judge found that the plaintiffs, including the state of Hawaii, showed a "strong" likelihood to succeed in their lawsuit against the ban. The plaintiffs argue the policy violates the Establishment Clause and it would likely cause "irreparable harm" without temporary relief.

Soon afterward, many on social media started using the hashtag #boycottHawaii.

Other social media users, especially residents of the state, were quick to poke fun at the hashtag.
