Clinton famously referred to Trump voters as a "basket of deplorables" during the campaign, and in "What Happened," released Tuesday, the former Democratic presidential nominee recounts her experiences with an opposition that frequently chanted "Lock her up!" at Trump events.

"It’s not easy for any woman in politics, but I think it’s safe to say that I got a whole other level of vitriol flung my way. Crowds at Trump rallies called for my imprisonment more times than I can count," Clinton writes.

"They shouted, 'Guilty! Guilty!' like the religious zealots in Game of Thrones chanting 'Shame! Shame!' while Cersei Lannister walked back to the Red Keep," she adds in a chapter titled "On Being a Woman in Politics."

The memorable moment from the popular HBO fantasy series came during the finale of season five, in which the then-queen mother is forced to walk naked through the streets as crowds boo and throw filth at her. The walk of shame is so searingly humiliating that it evokes pity for one of the show's most morally depraved characters.

The chants from Trump supporters to "lock her up" persisted throughout the campaign, reaching a fever pitch at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Clinton kicked off her promotional book tour earlier this week for the memoir, in which she opens up about last year's election, taking aim not only at President Trump for her loss but also former FBI Director James Comey, WikiLeaks and Sen.
