Actor John Cho appeared to hit President Trump on Tuesday for his remarks on North Korea during a speech before the United Nations, during which the president threatened to "totally destroy" the isolated East Asian country.

Cho, known for his roles in "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" and the rebooted Star Trek franchise, was born in South Korea, and he said the U.S. was playing into Pyongyang's hand with a tweet sent shortly after Trump's speech.

In his first speech to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, Trump threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea if it continued to pursue its weapons program and mocked the country's leader, Kim Jong Un, calling him "Rocket Man."

“Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime,” he said.

The president's remarks marked his latest threat to use military force against Pyongyang. North Korea has dramatically increased the pace of its nuclear and missile tests in recent months.

Earlier this month, the country successfully detonated what its government said was a hydrogen bomb — a claim that, if true, would signal a major milestone in North Korea's nuclear program.

North Korea's government has long argued that it is developing nuclear weapons as a defense against U.S. aggression.
