"Congrats to the entire #team! Because of you, young people will finally see superheroes that look like them on the big screen," Obama tweeted on Monday.

"I loved this movie and I know it will inspire people of all backgrounds to dig deep and find the courage to be heroes of their own stories."

"Black Panther" grossed $201.7 million this past three-day weekend, The Washington Post reported, citing Box Office Mojo.

Several Democratic lawmakers in the House and Senate have posted on social media that they attended the film during its opening weekend.

Members of the activist group Electoral Justice Project — an offshoot of the Movement for Black Lives — have also used the film's release as a chance for a voter registration drive targeting African-Americans with a social media campaign.

The superhero hit is the first Marvel movie to feature a majority-black main cast.
