Romney: 'Mr. president, have you looked at your pension?'

By Peter Schroeder - 10/16/12 10:17 PM ET

President Obama and Mitt Romney got into a sparring match over their respective retirement accounts during Tuesday's second presidential debate.

The two engaged in one of a number of feisty exchanges during the event, with Obama dinging Romney for having investments in Chinese companies.

"Have you looked at your pension? Mr. President, have you looked at your pension?" he asked repeatedly, stepping towards Obama.

The president responded with a quip.

"You know, I haven't looked at my pension. It's not as big as yours," he said.

Romney defended his investments, saying they've been placed in a blind trust for the last eight years and include some foreign investments as well as Chinese companies, but that the same holds true for Obama.

"Let me give you some advice. Look at your pension. You also have investments in Chinese companies. You also have investments out of the United States," he said.
