Ryan to vote for spending bill that Tea Party group opposes

By Erik Wasson - 09/12/12 10:11 AM ET

The Tea Party Patriots opposes the bill because it does not defund Obama's healthcare reform law. House appropriations bills considered in committee would have done that, but they are being shelved in favor of the six-month stopgap.

“This Thursday’s vote will reveal to Americans who is serious about repealing ObamaCare in full, and who cares more about reelection,” said Jenny Beth Martin, national coordinator of Tea Party Patriots.  “For Congress, it’s always ‘next time’: next time they’ll cut the promised $100 billion, next time they’ll vote to maintain the debt ceiling, next time they’ll pass a budget, next time they’ll repeal ObamaCare."

Tea Party-backed freshmen are weighing the continuing resolution, but in interviews on Tuesday most said they are willing to go along with the bill.
