Obama headed to NYC to talk financial reform

By Vicki Needham - 04/19/10 09:45 AM ET

President Barack Obama will call for swift action from the Senate on a financial regulatory reform bill in New York on Thursday.

The president will push for a financial regulatory reform plan that he has argued will hold Wall Street accountable and protect consumers. He'll give the speech at The Cooper Union, a 150-year old college focused on arts and sciences.

Senate Democrats and Republicans appear poised to hammer out a reform bill after two weeks of verbal sparring over the measure's details. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) wants the bill on the floor this week.
