Group files complaint against travel abuses by lawmakers

Judicial Watch, a government watchdog, on Tuesday announced it filed a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee regarding what it deems are "widespread" abuses of foreign travel expenses and per diems by lawmakers.
A similar complaint was filed with the House Office of Congressional Ethics.
The group claims lawmakers are not required to keep receipts for travel expenses and spend freely while traveling.
The complaints stem from a March 2 Wall Street Journal article on supposed travel-related abuses by members of Congress. The article offered instances were lawmakers used per diems to pay for items not sanctioned by Congress.
