Obama nominates 'indispensable' adviser for OMB No. 2 spot

President Obama has tapped one of his closest economic advisers to be deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

The president announced Monday that he intends to nominate Brian Deese, currently deputy director of the National Economic Council and a top economic adviser the president, to take the No. 2 role in the budget office, calling him an "indispensable member" of his economic team.

"There's no one better suited to take on this important role than Brian," he said in a statement. "Brian has impressed me and our entire team with his strong leadership and sound judgment, but most importantly, he never loses sight of who we are fighting for."
