Issa reaches out to private sector with new website

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) has said he wants to hear from American business owners about burdensome regulators, and now he is streamlining the process for doing so.

On the heels of a December letter asking for private sector input on which regulations were impeding job growth, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee is doubling down on his outreach with a new website, www.AmericanJobCreators.com.

Some Democrats jumped on the letter, sent to 150 companies, trade associations and think tanks, as proof that Issa and Republicans were looking out for big-moneyed interests. But Issa's new Web venture is an indication he does not plan on slowing down that effort.

There, business owners can fill out a form, detailing their business, contact information and their particular gripes or praise of governmental influence on their work. Individuals filling out the form can even check boxes for which government agencies affect their businesses.

"Get as specific as you like," Issa said in a video unveiling the site.

Responses will be used "to educate Congress and the American people about the challenges facing U.S. job creators," according to the site.
