Voters still strongly oppose soda tax

Rasmussen Reports found that 56 percent of poll participants oppose a tax on soft drinks. 

It also discovered that 88 percent think it is not the role of Congress to use a tax to control voters eating and drinking behaviors.  

Lawmakers originally sought a tax sugary soda to help pay for health care reform, but political pressure forced them to abandon the pursuit. 

It was originally reported that the American Beverage Association commissioned the survey. The group did not commission this survey.
