Economists give high marks to Wyden, Gregg tax reform bill
Over 95 percent of economists surveyed gave high marks to the tax reform bill by Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Judd Gregg (R-N.H.).
The legislation streamlines the filing process by eliminating several lines on the 1040, the form used to determine tax payments. It also reduces the corporate tax rate to 24 percent, a level making U.S. tax law competitive with other developed nations.
Of the more than one hundred economists surveyed, 95 percent said the bill is a "step in the right direction," according to the senators. Nearly 90 percent gave the bill either an 'A' or 'B'.
The senators are scheduled to speak about their bill on April 14 at the Bipartisan Policy Center.
