

Economic growth accelerates to 2.7 percent
The economy showed stronger signs of life in the third quarter, although it is uncertain if the improvement will hold through the final three months of the year.
Gross domestic product was 2.7 percent, higher than the 2 percent initially estimated for the July-September period, driven primarily by more businesses ramping up their inventories and increased exports amid slower import growth, the Commerce Department reported on Thursday.
That is up from an anemic 1.3 percent in the second quarter.
