No announcements expected this week on Romer's opening, Warren post

By Vicki Needham - 08/30/10 04:00 PM ET

No announcements are expected this week on a replacement for a departing White House economic adviser or who will lead the consumer protection agency created under the new financial reform law.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday a replacement won't be named this week on who will lead the Council of Economic Advisers. The position is being vacated by Christina Romer, who is headed back to San Francisco to teach at University of California Berkeley. Her last day is Friday.

Gibbs also said there wouldn't be an announcement as to whether President Obama will choose Elizabeth Warren to head the soon-to-be-formed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, created under the Dodd-Frank overhaul bill.
